Over £21,800 Raised for Social Enterprises at Crowdbacker
21st January 2019
We were delighted to co-host Crowdbacker with Year Here once again to support the new social enterprises of the 2018 Fellows.
Our compere for the evening, TV presenter George Lamb, started off the event by introducing a roundup of all the great work achieved by previous Year Here Fellows Birdsong, Curiosity Club, CrackedIt, Juta Shoes, Fat Macy’s, Routes, Nightingale and Supply Change - you can watch their 1-minute presentations here.
The ventures seeking seed funding on the night were:
• Sarah and Dan from bloom six, who raised £4,400 to recruit, train and match mentors with students to reduce exclusion in education
• Aviva from EVERYBODY, who raised £4,000 to connect families of children with disabilities and additional needs to help them enjoy everyday fun, in everyday places, with everybody else
• Angie and Tessa from Lemonade, who raised £4,800 to provide emotional support to young people with mental health issues
• Rachel from Plastic Shed, who raised £3,400 to develop a recycling workshop bringing people together to make beautiful things from plastic waste, and
• Matilda and Anna from Split Banana, who raised £4,900 to provide 21st Century sex education in secondary schools
More than 200 enthusiasts raised over £21,500 together for these five exciting new social enterprises. A big thank you to Year Here for being great partners, NatWest for hosting the evening, to BNY Mellon and all who gave generously on the night.
