An incredible £1.2+ million milestone with Rathbone Greenbank Investments
Having supported our work for the past 15 years, Rathbone Greenbank Investments has remained one of The Funding Network’s longest-standing and most committed Corporate Members enabling our team to deliver fun, impactful events with their steadfast support.
Greenbank hosted our recent Summer Connector crowdfunding event in their London offices, during which we were thrilled to announce an incredible milestone - over £1.2 million has now been raised at events hosted by Greenbank. Such events have empowered 141 - now 144! - brilliant small non-profit organisations over the past 15 years, a truly remarkable achievement.
The specialist ethical, sustainable investment managers first hosted a TFN event in December 2008 and have now helped to deliver 34 fantastic events. In his introduction to the Summer Connector John David, Head of Greenbank, said “Greenbank and TFN are complimentary in our vision and purpose: we both seek to create positive impact through the thoughtful use of capital, TFN through philanthropy and Greenbank through investment.”
The Summer Connector helped to raise an impressive £60,700 for three brilliant small charities Greener & Cleaner, Give a Book and Artistic Spectrum. TFN supported the organisations to present pitches for funding (which you may watch back here on our YouTube channel) to our audience of individuals, trusts & foundations and businesses. Through the power of collective giving, our generous audience offered donations which exceeded and in fact doubled the charities’ initial £10k targets. Our crowdfunded grants will help inspire environmental action across South London, fund reading groups for prisoners and their families, and provide therapeutic art workshops for those living with autism spectrum disorders in the North East: a fantastic example of the variety of social change interventions our network is able to support with the help of partners such as Greenbank.
Sarah Turvey OBE, Director of Prison Reading Groups at Give a Book said “We were of course absolutely thrilled (and a bit overwhelmed) by the outcome and delighted that we all did so well. The money is wonderful but so too is the confirmation that the work we all do is recognised as important. It was all just magical.”
Corporate partners such as Greenbank empower the brilliant non-profits we support at our events, and they also empower our own small charity too. We couldn’t do what we do without their incredible hospitality, and we were delighted to be able to celebrate this fantastic milestone together in person for our first event with Greenbank since before the Covid-19 pandemic. TFN asked our friends and previous grantees Luminary Bakery to create a beautiful selection of treats to celebrate, and John David had the pleasure of cutting the cake with celebrity sponsor actress Sophie McShera!
Thank you to all at Greenbank who have supported our work over the past 15 years.
