Forty Hall Vineyard mentioned in the OFM 50
Forty Hall Vineyard has been included in the Observer Food Monthly's “50 things we love in the world of food right now”, a coveted and widely recognised list that celebrates the “up and coming” in the world of food.
For those not familiar with Forty Hall Vineyard (FHV), they pitched at our Festive Funder in 2015 and raised an impressive £9,000. The project is a 10-acre vineyard in Enfield, North London which operates as a social enterprise. It is the first commercial scale vineyard in London since the middle ages, specialising in producing award-winning English wines.
What makes FHV unique is that it’s run and managed by volunteers and delivers health and wellbeing benefits to local people. Volunteers have the opportunity to talk to an ecotherapist whilst working in a beautiful outdoor space. They benefit from meeting and socialising with new people and also increasing their confidence whilst improving physical and mental health.
Sarah Vaughan-Roberts who started FHV almost 11 years ago said, “We are so delighted to get this national press recognition for our wines and our wellbeing work. It is very exciting for our small social enterprise and all our volunteers to be selected in this prestigious list along with such fantastic food producers - it gives everyone involved in the project a real sense of achievement and pride in what they do.”
It’s wonderful for us to see a project once supported by TFN being recognised for the important and innovative work they do. If you would like to find out more about this amazing organisation, visit their website here - and you can purchase wine through their online shop!
