Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants
CEO Andy Ruiz Palma sought TFN funding to deliver a full term of English classes for refugees and people seeking asylum - with remarkable results. Over 13 weeks, 198 individuals attended the classes, and by the end of the term, 100% of new starters reported feeling more confident and less isolated. The support didn't stop there. Through connections made within the TFN community, the charity secured an additional £2,000 donation and an introduction to a major donor, strengthening its fundraising prospects. Afghanistan Education Action
Founder and CEO Angela Ghayour pitched for funds to provide free online education to Afghan girls who have been denied access to school, reaching 150 students across subjects including mathematics, science, English and digital literacy. The impact extended beyond the classroom. Through TFN connections, the charity generated £30,000 in potential funding opportunities and expanded its international volunteer educator network, strengthening its capacity to bring hope, learning and opportunity to even more girls in the future. Schools Consent Project
Director Monica Bhogal secured TFN funding to bring free consent education workshops to schools in Manchester, Newcastle and Bristol, reaching approximately 900 young people. As a result, hundreds more young people are better equipped to understand consent, recognise unhealthy behaviours and seek help when they need it. Through TFN connections, the charity gained new volunteer lawyers, school introductions and pro bono fundraising support, helping to build momentum towards its goal of becoming a national organisation.
