TFN charity alumni in action

Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation bringing drug education to secondary schools

We always value opportunities to see our charity alumni in action and the difference TFN funding is making. Recently, our Charity and Impact Manager, Inês Ribeiro, visited Latymer Upper School in London to watch I Love You, Mum – I Promise I Won’t Die, performed by Tie It Up Theatre.

Commissioned by the Daniel Spargo-Mabbs family in the wake of Daniel’s tragic death, the play tells the story of Dan’s death from an ecstasy overdose at 16 through the words of his family and friends. It forms a central part of the Foundation’s drug education programme in schools.

DSMF first pitched at TFN in March 2020 to bring the play to Scotland, and later secured second-stage funding at Connector Plus in 2022 to support a Lead Drug Educator role. Since then, the production has toured widely - reaching more than 150,000 young people across more than 850 performances.

We’re also proud that following their pitch, DSMF received a £50,000 legacy gift from an event attendee - further testament to the lasting impact of the connections made through TFN.
