Inspiring the next generation of changemakers

Date

We were delighted to welcome Year 12 students from Brighton College to our New Year Connector in February. Bringing future decision-makers into conversations around philanthropy and social impact was a real highlight and their energy, curiosity and thoughtful questions made a lasting impression on everyone in the room.

Thanks to the support of the Frederick Mulder Foundation, each student was given £100 to donate to a charity on the night, encouraging them to engage deeply with the causes presented. Students also greatly valued the opportunity to hear from Greenbank Investment Director Jonny Moon, whose introduction to responsible investing added a powerful dimension to the evening. As their Director of Futures (Careers), Chris Webster, reflected, the evening was both “inspiring and grounding,” with students “buzzing and genuinely impacted” by the experience.

We’re thrilled that one of the featured charities, Flourish Mentors, is now collaborating with Brighton College on a joint podcast - an example of the meaningful connections our events aim to spark beyond the funds they raise. The students are pictured here with the charity presenters from the evening.

Our thanks to Chris Webster and the team at Greenbank for helping make this opportunity possible. We look forward to welcoming more students to future events.

TFN Charity Alumni in Action: Colyton Foundation

When Colyton Foundation pitched at our Spring Connector in May, Director Nick Wakeling highlighted a striking but often overlooked inequality: under-resourced young people in the South West face some of the greatest barriers to educational attainment and progression to higher education in the country.
