A year In TFN International
What a year it has been for TFN International!
As well as our regular roster of events in cities and towns across Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Serbia, Hungary, Turkey and Poland, we have had first events in Cyprus (Nicosia), Latvia (Valmeira, Limbazi and Talsi), Miskolc (Hungary) and Tczew, Orawa, Biłgoraj (Poland).
We were particularly thrilled with the first event in Brussels which was organised last month by GRASP Brussels for the professional Romanian community based there. The event, our first tailored to a diaspora audience, raised an astonishing €8,100 for three small community projects which travelled the 2,000 km to Brussels to make their pitches. You can read more about it here. A second event is already slated for May 2018 and we hope this is the first of many “diaspora” events.
Next year, we’re looking forward to working with partners on events in Russia, Albania, Italy, Palestine and France as well as a first event in Izmir in Turkey and in more cities across Poland. For those of you interested in joining us for a study visit, we will be offering you the chance to come with Fred and Eugenie to Budapest for an event organised by our partners, Roots and Wings on 1st March.
The year has been tinged with sadness with news that Lisa Cotton, the incredible force behind TFN in Australia, is stepping down as CEO after five years. Lisa and her team have brought together 5,000 individuals as well as corporate, philanthropic and government partners to facilitate more than $6.8 million (£3.9 million) in funding plus extensive in kind support for 165 grass roots non-profits. Phew - no wonder she needs a break! We wish her well with her next adventure and thank her for her energy, passion and flair in establishing our only other “stand alone” TFN.
And so it only remains for us to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a wonderful year ahead in 2018. Thank you to our wonderful partners now dotted all over the world for all your hard work and good humour this year. We enjoy working with you all so much to spread the power and impact of TFN’s live crowd funding model.
