What an evening in Georgia!

Time and time again we are reminded of the universal power of collective giving and generosity. Just last week, on May 19th, our friends and colleagues from the Centre for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG) hosted their first live crowdfunding event supported by TFN. From all of us at TFN, we are proud to welcome Georgia into our international community of giving.

Around a hundred people joined the event that took place at the Writers House in Tbilisi. Guests from civil society, the private sector, the media, international organisations, as well as representatives of Georgian government, had the opportunity to hear three organisations pitch their ideas for the betterment of Georgian society.

The featured projects will aim to increase ecological awareness and promote urban gardening, provide opportunities for women and children to socialise through film screenings in rural areas, and increase access to therapeutic services for autistic spectrum disorder individuals.

The live crowdfunding model proved a success, with 20,900 Georgian Lari (GBP £5,900) raised - almost 40% more than the initial target!

Tamuna Kvaratskhelia, one of the participants, highlighted what makes a TFN event so special: 'The event proved that ordinary, not rich people can join together and with their modest effort help to implement important ideas that benefit society.'
