Since launching in 2012, Giving Tuesday has become a counter-balance to the rampant consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday - a day for people to think about how they can give back to their communities and support those in need.
Last year over 2,600 charities and businesses took part in Giving Tuesday. A world record was set for the most money raised online for charity in 24 hours, with over £7.8 million raised in the UK in just one day. The campaign also achieved an impressive level of awareness as the #GivingTuesday hashtag reached over 41 million people in the UK alone. The impact is huge and has great potential to achieve so much more. Similar to TFN, its strength lies in ordinary people choosing to make a positive choice and putting their resources towards important social issues. Every single person can make a difference, and indeed the only way movements like Giving Tuesday succeed is by the small acts of many, many individuals.
So why not take a moment to remember your favourite TFN charity this #GivingTuesday - give them a boost by sending a donation, volunteering some time or just by giving them a shout out on social media. We love giving EVERY day, but Giving Tuesday is a great opportunity to think about what more you can do to support positive social change - both now and throughout the year.
