This year, we raised £563,000 for 36 non-profits. Thank you to everyone that has come together this year and supported small, impactful charities – including us! 

We’ve had a year of change – we turned 20, we held our first hybrid event, we got a new look and new team members – but what we do remains the same: creating connections that change the world. 

As our founder Dr Fredrick Mulder CBE recently said in an interview on Macedonian TV, ‘We do many things together in life. We eat together, we dance together, we play together. Why not give together too?’

Target smashing events

2022 has been the year for smashing targets! October was a big month for us, with two-target smashing events raising more than £154,000.

On 6th October 2022, we had a 20th Anniversary Crowdfunding Event, raising over £70,000 (more than double our target!) for Streetlife, Clowns Without Borders UK and Get Rid of and Donate.

We also joined forces with Give Out, Consortium and Macquarie for a fourth time to run City for LGBT+, a live crowdfunding event raising funds for LGBTQ+ communities in crisis. Our target was £10,000 for each organisation and we raised an incredible £84,000 – almost twice our target! Thank you to the Macquarie Group Foundation for generously matching donations made at the event.

We also ran events with our partners at Black Funding Network and Environmental Funders Network. We’re currently planning for 2023, so watch this space!

First hybrid event

The COVID-19 pandemic forced many of us to move our lives online - TFN included! We learned a lot during this time and were thrilled to find out in October that our 2021 Festive Event was shortlisted for Fundraising Everywhere’s ‘Best Innovation in Virtual Events’ award.

This year marked a return to normality and we were able to meet again in person – the first time since March 2020. We used our learning from the pandemic, bringing a virtual audience to our live event at Octopus, raising £47,000 for Katherine Low Settlement, Solar Links and Catching Lives.

We turned 20!

Earlier this year, we marked our 20th anniversary and what better way to celebrate than looking back at all we’ve achieved together? In just 20 years, we have raised more than £17 million for 2,435 charities and non-profits across the world.

Events across the world!

2022 was a year to recalibrate post-pandemic but it also contained new challenges - the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis and the cost of living crisis. Throughout these turbulent times, our partners have continued working with grassroots charities to address critical issues across the globe. This year alone, over 30 live crowdfunding events have been held - a mix of online, hybrid and virtual events. 

There have been many achievements this year. We engaged organisations in Spain, Austria, Columbia and Peru in the power of community philanthropy. Our partners in Georgia held their first event, (pictured below) and Roots & Wings in Hungary held their first thematic giving circle in support of democratic and fair elections. TFN New Zealand has also piloted their incredibly successful program, the Generosity Generator, while TFN Australia has continued to smash records, designing a new programme, Giving Heroes, that engages young changemakers. 

We look forward to 2023, when we will be celebrating ten years of our international network.
