£62k raised for three brilliant small charities

Last Wednesday we held our Spring Connector - a live crowdfunding event in support of three brilliant small charities.

Tim Burley from Bright Sparks, Isaac Jones from First Give and Phillipa Nairn from the Marie Colvin Journalists' Network each pitched for £10,000 in a room full of engaged donors. In just 30 minutes, we raised more than £54k, securing an additional £8k post-event - more than double our target! Thank you to everyone that joined us. These generous donations will support young people's education in India, drive social action in British schools and give female journalists in the Arab world a vital support network.

We were also delighted to be joined by special guest Lindsey Hilsum, Founder of Marie Colvin Journalists' Network and the International Editor for Channel 4 News.

Thank you to Janus Henderson Investors for generously supporting this event.

It's never too late to give. Any additional donations would be gratefully received.

Who pitched?

Bright Sparks - Bright Sparks is a primary school in Mohali, Northern India providing free education to 100+ children. They have been working with local shanty town families since 2008, helping more than 500 children receive an education that would otherwise be sent to work. Bright Sparks helps break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy in the area, widening the opportunities for children and young people.

First Give - First Give inspires young people to make a difference in their local community and get involved in social action. Through their work with schools First Give provides young people the opportunity to learn about social action and charitable giving. Since 2014, almost 200,000 young people have taken part in their core programme

Marie Colvin Journalists' Network - Since 2016, The Marie Colvin Journalists' Network (MCJN) has been supporting and empowering local Arabic-speaking women journalists facing gendered risks, discrimination and social pressures so that they can thrive in their careers.
