South London Cares: Winter Wellbeing report
In September last year we partnered with BeyondMe for The Multiplier, providing support to three charities from the BeyondMe portfolio. One of the charities was South London Cares, pitching for their Winter Wellbeing project. With winter over, they have completed their project and Emily from South London Cares wanted to share their report with you:
I'm delighted to say that South London Cares has completed a report on our Winter Wellbeing project, which you very generously supported at The Multiplier last year. You can read the full report here. To share some of the key stats with you:
- We held 1,280 conversations with older neighbours to help connect people;
- Delivered 88 blankets and 31 items of warm clothing;
- Gave specific follow-up help to 354 older neighbours;
- Distributed 20 small grants to older neighbours - £1,600 in total.
We hope you enjoy the full report, with details of our approach and a breakdown of the impact the project had.
None of this would be possible without your support.
Thank you for your kind donation back in autumn - for supporting our Winter Wellbeing project and helping your neighbours to stay warm, well and connected throughout winter. It made a huge difference, helping older neighbours to feel supported - rather than left behind - during the harshest time of the year.
But don't just take our word for it. As Stella from Streatham says:
"For 20 years I hadn't been out of the house except to get food - until Tuesday at the Jukebox Disco. I hadn't danced for 25 years, I didn't think I possibly could, and I did! For me, it's a minor miracle. It's given me a real lift. Can I sign up for another club?"
Thank you for helping to make our ambitions a reality. The South London Cares team is sincerely grateful.
