CEO Celine in Sydney
This month our CEO Celine went to Sydney to pay a visit to our friends, TFN Australia. Read on to find out about the event she attended:
"Earlier this month, I was incredibly lucky to spend a week in Sydney with the TFN Australia (TFNA) team, to observe how the crowdfunding model works over there and compare notes with both Australian and New Zealand teams. I much enjoyed attending a great event hosted by KPMG at Barangaroo, with compelling projects, friendly guests and amazing view over Sydney harbour.
The event raised over $100,000AUS on behalf of 3 non-profits delivering programmes that equip disadvantaged people with the right skills for the future in different and imaginative ways. Eagles RAPS is dedicated to the prevention of youth suicide through the provision of education so vulnerable young people can develop resilience in the face of life's challenges. Kookaburra Kids supports children and youth aged 8 - 25 years who live in families affected by mental illness, by providing early intervention and mental health education in a fun and age-appropriate recreational and educational camp and activity day program. BREED is committed to providing experiences that strengthen a young person’s employment opportunities.
I am grateful to the Frederick Mulder Foundation for enabling this research trip and giving me the opportunity to get to know our Australian and New Zealand colleagues. I would also like to thank the TFNA team – Lisa, Tom, Nina, Tommy, Jerome, Patrick and Rob – for their warm welcome, and Anissa for sharing her experience of developing live crowdfunding in New Zealand."
